Yes, it is a good distraction and negative energy release.

Working out when i'm emotional is the way I release my emotions. It's a coping skill and a stress reliever.

Definitely! It helps melt the anger away, and because of the anger, sometimes the workout is better because you have that angry adrenaline rushing through you. If I'm depressed or sad, I still work out, even if I go slower than normal, because I know once I start to get worn out, the sadness will be much less.

Absolutely the best time to do it, rather than EAT...

Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance!

Slim is where I wanted to be in 201o & 2011! Never happened, plateaued for a long time and gave up... got off track, but never left, so am back on track again!!! Make 2012 my year! So far, did finally lose 25 lbs. over the summer, but have found about 11 of it so far, it didn't hide good enough...
and lost it again in 2013... going down to 175 this fall, and staying there...this time!

We all have issues in our lives that interfere with our goals, being successful is making those choices everyday that will lead to our success. I have no idea what your going through, and the severity of your issue. But pushing through adversity builds the character necessary for success.

Exercise is the best therapy on earth!! Not to mention, skipping a workout is just going to add to your bad feelings by the end of the day. Whatever happened, you probably have no control over it. You DO have control over working out!! Do it!! Always!!

I won't strength train when I'm sad because it's not distracting enough, so I run/row/bike. But when I'm mad, there's nothing like moving heavy objects to burn off the mad. Those workouts are generally the ones where I see the most strength increases.

ESPECIALLY when I'm experiencing an extreme feeling or mood. That's when a lot of the best workouts happen for me, too, because I channel my energy into the workout. Besides, if you don't workout every time you're having a bad day or mood, then you'll never workout.

I work out harder when I'm mad or sad. It tends to help me sort through my thoughts and feelings better. Plus I feel like I did something right after I work out so it lifts my mood. Hope you sort out whatever yuckiness happened

Absolutely! It is probably one of the best things you can do for your body. Exercise help to "get it out" not store it and have it cause problems.

workouts have always helped me burn out my anger.

my former boss was a real jerk. On days when he'd been worse than usual, I'd stop by the gym on the way home and get on the racquetball court alone. I would picture his face on that ball and beat the heck out of it for an hour. Punching bags are also great for anger workouts.

sad - that's different. It depends on the situation. I may go for a walk or a bike ride to clear my head, but it's not intense by any means.

Yes, a good workout always helps when things are stressful!! In the past I would have a cocktail or 2 when stressed out, sad, or angry but now I take everything out in the gym!!! It is a healthy release!!!

I definitely work out if I am upset or angry, primarily by beating the crap out of the heavy bag. However, if I feel depressed or sad, which is not very often, I do not workout, usually.

I find it harder to exercise when I am sad or depressed. I am more likely to exercise (and eat healthy) when I am happy.

But anger doesn't interfer with my exercise plans. It can feel good to work out my anger or frustration through physical activity. I rant and rave in my head as I start exercising, but begin to focus on the exercise as time passes ... and I usually feel better at the end of the exercise.

A good hard workout is great at blocking a lot of things out of your mind. You are so focussed on what you are doing, that any other thoughts go by the wayside.
