I would also recommend meeting with a trainer, to at least walk you through the equipment for safety purposes. When they do that, they will sometimes also give you some help in starting out with a workout plan.

Most gyms give you one free session with a trainer. Use it to develop a basic full body routine. Or use the workout generator under the My Fitness tab in SparkPeople. Basic full body routine: Squats Deadlifts/lunges Pushups (modified as necessary) Pullups (modified as necessary)
Once you can do 3 sets of 15 reps, do something to make the exercise harder.
I just recently joined a gym, starting to workout again, but one thing that is stopping me from going to the gym is I have no idea what to do for workouts each day. I really don't have a workout plan or know how to make a workout plan for each day I go?
