I may be wrong, but are you referring to the USA Precor Cross Ramp Trainer?
If so, then my gym has those and I much prefer it to the standard elliptical machine.
With the Cross Ramp Trainer you can adjust not only the resistance but also the gradient, so if you set the gradient to something like 12 or 13 it's almost like hiking uphill. And of course the machine also has the moving handles to work your arms.
I use an interval program where I go for two minutes on a gradient of 8 resistance 10, then two minutes on a gradient of 13 resistance 12. A great workout, and by the time I'm finished I'm pretty much good for not much else apart from cool down and a good stretch!
