Look after your health,
When I was a teenager and up to age 21 I did not look after my health and had high blood pressure & me & my friends ate a lot of fast food. It was more of a common thing to do then now. I am 54 and since the age of 21 I have been looking after my health, no longer see those friends and my blood pressure is now too low,80/50. I add salt & walk to raise it. I can not go to the gym as it lowers it too much. I am much healthier now then then even though I take the same size clothes as I did then. I was not underweight like a lot of girls were at the time.

Linda. I live in Canada. My time zone is Pacific Standard Time,daylight savings time. I have chronic kidney disease and low blood pressure & blood clots in my lung. I am on the summer challenge that started July 1. I am on the Teddy Bears Team. I am 54 years old as of last January 12.

I would tell my younger self to forget the low-fat/high carb brainwashing--the science just isn't there!
And for those with diabetes on both sides of the family (like me) sugar in all forms is what you really have to watch out for.
Eat fat (!), especially coconut oil. Fats help your neurological system and your brain.
Also, periodic fasting is healthy. You won't die or be malnourished by skipping a meal here and there. It helps regenerate cells. In a few years, you'll have google and can research it.:)
I'd also tell myself to take dance classes, and stay consistent with exercise and eating right. Get counseling for emotional eating.

I would tell my younger self to be appreciative of what you have. Like the Joni Mitchell song you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. The younger me had a few health problems but my laundry list has grown almost exponentially over the years so that at 67 I have months where I lead a life by doc appointments. Not kidding. This week 3 - next week 1. Not fun but I'm vertical and I'm only 10# over my HS weight - just need to be qutie a bit lighter to help with pain management and to be able to let people help me safely when I need it.

You are not at all fat, you look absolutely great. Enjoy your body now because it is the best it will ever be. Take care of it so that you are not in pain at an older age. And for heaven's sake eat well now because if you don't take control of your bad habits now you'll be addicted to certain things like sugar that won't do your body any good in your older age. It really didn't do it any good in your younger age but you couldn't see that because you were so active that you didn't see it's negative effects.

Emotion may help us get started in the right direction, but it is rarely there at the finish line. Sooner or later we must press forward without the support of emotion and employ discipline.

That I understand. It's hard to do all you want. Love yourself. Try to make good choices. Forgive yourself. Know that the future will be OK.
I say these things because I know that I would have been unlikely to follow the advice of an older me. I may have screwed up some in the past but I did a lot of good things, too. I'm proud of myself. I had to make a lot of changes to get healthier now, but I'm doing them. Maybe it would have been easier to have not made mistakes, but I did learn and am continuing to learn.

1: Learn Yoga and do it everyday because it keeps you flexible.
2: Learn to ride a bicycle - its fun, free and good all round exercise.
3: Swimming - same as above.
4: Work hard at school/college/work.
5: Get plenty of quality sleep.
6: Drink at least 8 glasses water each day.

When I had my several pregnancies, I found it hard to find the energy to exercise regularly. I also had a hypo-thyroid condition that caused sluggishness.
So NOW, I would say to a younger self, to get in good condition while young. Get a fitness habit established that will be easy to continue after the babies come. It will help so much during the challenging years when you energy goes to the wonderful world of raising children.

And we all lived happily ever after...

Don't allow yourself to gain too many pounds when pregnant. That "baby" weight never seems to go away, and stay away forever. My youngest is 26 emoticon
