As others have said, most Couch to 5k programs are 9 or 10 weeks. However, all the ones I have seen are based on time, not distance, and get you to running 30 minutes...which for me at the time wasn't even close to 5k. So when I finished the "official" C25k, I continued adding time to my runs each week until I had reached 5k. That took me to the beginning of week 13 (and about 40 minutes).

I have recently started making changes to my lifestyle to be healthier for my family and myself. However, I have never been a runner. My son has asked me to run a 5K with him in December. My question is how long do you need to train to go from walking to 3 mile run.
