Love your excitement and enthusiasm, but you might want to slow down a bit. Running puts incredible stress on your body. Your muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons all need time to adapt to the strain and impact forces. Not progressing more slowly puts you at risk for injury and imbalances, like shin splints, stress fractures, etc. Pace yourself so you have many more happy, healthy miles ahead of you. I'm a newer runner myself, but I'm sure some of the vets here will have some sage advice.
Good for you! For the longest time I was mentally afraid that I couldn't get past a mile, but I broke through that and am now doing a 2 mile run in about 16 minutes. I have gone as far as four miles, but never five. Congrats to you!
