I'm thinking that I overused it or twisted the wrong way while weight lifting. I ran every day last week extensively and that's when it began to hurt. Nothing replaces a doctor's visit, though, so I'm going to try it if I can't calm this pain on my own in a few days. Just wanted to see if anyone had experienced this before.

You should probably see your doctor. It may be nothing more than overuse (or some kind of strain), then again it could be something with your kidneys (or some other part of your body - have pain in one area of the body but the problem is actually elsewhere).

Because the pain has persisted for 2 weeks and it's not getting better, I'd recommend getting it checked out by your doctor. It would be difficult for us to speculate on what the problem might be.

Good luck!

About two weeks ago, I was running and felt this dull ache in my lower back, right above my buttocks. I tried to ignore it, but eventually had to stop running. I thought that maybe my shoes needed to be changed, so I started using new ones, but the pain persisted. Now, I'm noticing the pain a lot more when I sit after getting off of work for an extended period of time or when I'm sleeping. I'm usually a stomach or side sleeper, but sometimes I wake up due to the level of discomfort. I just started using a waist belt and Mineral Ice gel as support for the pain, but I'm concerned.

I'm a 24 year old woman and this is the first time that this had happened to me. I'm a pretty active person, but I'm also holding the most sedentary job that I've ever had (I have to sit the majority of the day). I have great posture, but I've also got flat feet. Weight lifting and strength training are huge parts of my routine (some twisting/back involved exercises I do are planks, sit-ups, Russian twists, overhead lifts, bicycles). Again, the pain started just two weeks ago, but it's not paralyzing/excruciating/to the point where I can't move. Any ideas on what it could be? Lower back strain, maybe?
