Another one for yoga. My balance was pretty poor. I just took up yoga for the last month as a recovery day between my 4 day split ST. I've only been doing it once a week and am already seeing huge improvements! It really strengthens all your stabilizing muscles.
"Toning" is marketing muscles to women who are afraid if they pick up a barbell, they'll leave the gym looking like She-Hulk. It doesn't happen, what does happen is you get results. Lifting Barbie weights does nothing but waste time.
I agree with others who've replied that taking yoga will help improve your balance. Tree pose is one example of a pose you could do that would help your balance.
Also, if you are using a paddle board, you might try a wobble board. BOSUs are great, but they are pricey at $125. Surfers and skateboarders use wobble boards. you can find a plastic wobble board at TJ Maxx or Target for around $25.

I'd have to agree with yoga improving balance quite a bit. I'm living proof of that. My balance was pretty bad because of various leg and back issues and now my balance and energy have increased quite a bit!

"If a person wants to be a part of your life, they will make an obvious effort to do so. Think twice before reserving a space in your heart for people who do not make an effort to stay."
"Your happiness is up to you. Whatever happened in your life to make you who you are up until this point is irrelevant. It is your responsibility now to take control and change your life to be what you want it to be. Energy and persistence conquer all things. Make time, not excuses."
