I weigh myself pretty frequently--maybe 4-5 days a week--but my "official" weigh-in day is once a week. That said, I'm not the kind of person who gets hung up on the little day-to-day variances. If I'm up a pound or two one day, it's no big deal; I just pay attention when I notice a trend over several weight checks. I should also say that I'm in maintenance now, but I did it the same way when I was losing, too.

I only weigh myself once every other month. I don't want to be tied to the scales. It is only a number and it doesn't define me as a person. I use other things to measure my goals. Like using a tape measure or how my eating is coming along..........track everything. Or how well my workouts are coming along.

Point to remember, a scale only measures the force of gravity on you at the specific time you are on that particular scale and that value will change at a different time the same day. If you choose to weight frequently such as every day you need to weigh under exactly the same conditions every time then average all seven days to come up with a value.

As motivated said measurements are a better assessment tool as are full body front and side pictures taken now then retaken at regular intervals as you progress.

It is called WORK-ing out for a reason.

An important thing to remember here is that the body can naturally fluctuate by several pounds from day to day.

Some people find that frequent weigh-ins (even as much as daily) helps keep them accountable to themselves for their eating and exercise decisions.

Others find the inevitable increases that natural fluctations and frequent weigh-ins implies to be very frustrating and demotivating.

You may want to think through what your likely reaction to fluctuations will be, and set your weigh-in frequency accordingly.

Also, tracking inches with the tape, rather than pounds with the scale is probably a far more reliable measure of your progress, and less sensitive to fluctuations.

Hello, I was wondering about how frequency you all do weigh ins. I'm thinking monthly myself, but not sure if that's too infrequent/suffices/etc.
