I agree that lots of variety in DVDs is great. thru the years I've collected kickboxing, Denise Austin, Zumba, Biggest Loser workouts, Pilates, and kettlebell DVDs. Sometimes I simply put on my iTunes list and dance away. I liked the idea earlier of getting Netflix DVDs too.

I also "hit the wall" mentally at the 2 mile mark with Leslie Sansone. By body can go farther, but my brain just can't take it. The only longer routine I can do is the "Fast and Firm ... 4 Really Big Miles" from her Walk Slim series. Each of the 4 miles is very different from the others.

I mix it up by using other DVD's, only doing Leslie Sansone's once or twice per week. There are a lot of good ones out there ... and the variety helps me stick with it. Sometimes, I'll put one aside and not use it for a few months, then pick it up again and start doing it again. I buy a new one every couple of months to give me something "fresh" to try.

Using DVD's has been very effective for me. I usually do one right after work on weekdays and late afternoon/early evening on the weekends. I prefer ones that at 20-45 minutes long -- doing 30-45 minutes about 5 times per week. (If I do a short one, I'll do 2 routines.) I have some of Leslie's ... some zumba ... some kettlebell ... some ballet barre ... etc. The variety works my muscles in different ways and helps prevent bordom.

Good luck to you.

I second buying "You are your own gym." I took it on vacation with me to help maintain the gains I made in strength training with weights while I was away from the gym and when I benchmarked myself after my trip, I was stronger than before I left! If you have questions about the proper form for an exercise, you can search on Youtube to find a video of someone doing it properly.

Rather than investing in DVDs buy a book such as "You Are Your Own Gym" by Mark Lauren and learn how to create your own bodyweight strength training programme. Cardio is fine but it is far and away not the be all do all for fitness you need to add some form of resistance training.

It is called WORK-ing out for a reason.

I said getting fit was simple, I did not say it was easy.

Cardio burns calories, strength work burns fat.

Eat well to lose weight, exercise to get fit

You can not build a six pack using twelve packs

One thing that I did that really helped with the boredom was to get a Netflix account. They have a lot of dvd disks you can rent, that way once you are bored with it you can just trade it for a new one and you aren't constantly spending money on dvds that you get bored with after only a few times through

As the weather gets colder, I know that I'm going to have to start doing more indoor workouts. I do not have a gym membership at this moment, so my main focus will be workout DVDs, which is fine because I'm not getting much upper body work or toning just by walking.

Now, I absolutely love Leslie Sansone workouts, but at the same time, I hit this wall after 2 miles (about 30 minutes). I'm not physically tired. I can still keep going, but MENTALLY, I just can't get past that 2 mile wall.

I want to be able to make a 2 mile walk a short day, with 3-5 miles or more being the norm. I love walking and I love these workouts, but I just get bored.

I know I can split the workouts up, but that's not always an option, and I know there are certain benefits to doing longer workouts in regards to endurance.
