When you say you have to stay inside so you do not get sick, what did you mean? Did you mean you get heat stroke in the hot weather or did you mean something else?

I think all the posters came up with great ideas to deal with the heat. Hope you'll try some of them.

Heat can certainly be an issue with exercise, but there are a number of ways you can still work out:

* keep your workouts to just 10 minutes, with perhaps several 10 minute workouts per day if you can
* splash yourself with some water before your workout, so that you get the evaporative effect without having to wait until you start sweating
* position yourself directly in front of a fan (even more effective if you combine it with the splashing water technique)
* do strength training, which doesn't build up body heat so much as sustained cardio does
* work out first thing in the morning, or in the evening, when it is cooler.

If you combine some or all of these with siezing the opportunity to go to the gym whenever there is a milder day, you should be able to maintain a pretty good activity level overall.

You must be close to me, lol. It is a scorcher out there this week.

As long as you are eating less calories than your BMR + activity level, you'll continue to lose weight.

If you want to keep up with your exercise program when it's too hot out, why not do some exercise videos? There are some right here on Spark or you can find a lot on youtube.com. .

"Toning" is marketing muscles to women who are afraid if they pick up a barbell, they'll leave the gym looking like She-Hulk. It doesn't happen, what does happen is you get results. Lifting Barbie weights does nothing but waste time.

Weight loss is about what you eat... not your exercise. If you can't work out for whatever reason, you don't have to hope you haven't gained weight; you simply need to track your calories to stay in your ranges while you're inactive.

Does your gym have air conditioning? If it does, then you're making excuses. Get up and go. ;) You won't regret it. You can always get up before it gets hot! Exercise in the heat of the day may be unsafe, but getting exercise at home or in an air conditioned gym, or outside BEFORE the temperatures reach unsafe levels, is easy. I live in the south, where it's always hot from spring until late fall... if I waited for the heat to go to exercise, I'd never exercise!

it has been very hot recently and when it is very hot I have to stay inside so I do not get sick. I have not been to the gym recently. I am hoping I have not gained my weight recently. I have been doing house work so I am hoping that burns off a few calories. The heat is suppose to continue in my area for the next few days, so I am not sure if I will make it to the gym . I am hoping for cooler weather to come before long.

slowly but surely I will get to where I am going.
