Push hard where you can but if you feel like you will injure yourself, stop.

I've been doing HIIT since Novemenber. I did get stronger and adapted better but there are days when I don't think I can keep up.

Also, Ive heard you shouldn't do HIIT workouts back to back. Your body needs time to recover.

Definitely push hard, but don't push past what you are capable of or you risk an injury. You can still get just as intense of a workout by modifying. Keep intensity up, but impact low when you need to. You'll get there!

Thank you for the reply :)

I think I watch too much biggest loser and extreme weight loss. I expected a response that was more Jillian Michael-ess haha. I know I need to push hard and I think I did especially with the soreness today but I still wondered "did I really do enough?"

- Should I be pushing through the shortness of breath? breathing a bit hard? sure. REALLY out of breath? no.
- What about when I feel nauseous? modify the moves.
- What can I do to prepare? talk to the instructor and ask him/her to show modifications.
- What should I eat before hand? (The instructor did say not to eat less than an hour before) eating/not eating before a workout is a personal preference. Generally avoid heavy meals beforehand.
- How long until I don't feel like I am going to die? You shouldn't ever feel that way..as I said..MODIFY the moves to ones that are suited to your fitness level.

Hi everyone :)
Yesterday, I went to my first bootcamp class (all HIIT).
I felt like I was dying. I couldn't complete any of the individual circuits and some were just impossible. I felt so out of shape. I was nauseous, and today I am pretty sore.

I am going back today though. The other class members made sure to let me know that if I don't, monday will be even worse.

This is the first time I have actually felt like I got a real workout. In the past, I would bore myself to death on the elliptical for a few weeks and then stop and start again. I can tell that if I keep going, this will really change my body as I look at the people who have been doing this for a year.

My questions are:
- Should I be pushing through the shortness of breath?
- What about when I feel nauseous?
- What can I do to prepare?
- What should I eat before hand? (The instructor did say not to eat less than an hour before)
- How long until I don't feel like I am going to die?

Any personal experiences are so appreciated as well :).
