You don't need the gym nor equipment for a good full-body strength training program. Your body weight's enough! The good thing about being weak is you don't have to stay that way... that's what strength training is for!

You can use SP's workout generator to create a program for you, too. Definitely ask your doc!

Here's one place to start:

With pushups, it's okay to do modified, or even wall pushups if you can't do full ones. The important thing about working out is knowing what you're capable of, and modifying until you get stronger!

I'm going to second the idea of strength training. One gentle way to get into it is through rubber bands. After a couple of months of investigating the various companies that sell these bands, I began ST with a starter set from Rubberbanditz. Their bands are long-lasting, their video is full of creative ideas for using the bands in whatever situation you find yourself, their beginner program is easy enough to get you going, and they donate to + work in third-world countries.

I'm very glad for your medical clearance and wish you the best, whatever you decide to do.

Jillian Michaels workouts did wonders for my arms and abs. 30 Days shred is short workout and you can do it anytime you like.

I am really not doing much strength yet. I don't really know what to do. My muscles are weak. I have an appointment Tuesday with my regular doctor, I thought I would ask her. I don't have equipment and can't afford the gym right now, so I am open to suggestions.

That is wonderful news! Congrats!

Do you have a good strength training program yet? Cardio is good, but strength will change your body in goods ways. A complete strength training program will help you boost your metabolism, burn more calories at rest, and help you lose inches... not just pounds! It also makes your cardio more efficient and effective.

Plus: Afterburn!

Yesterday I went for the cardiac stress test. It was the final test in determining my workout level. The doctor has given me the okay to do whatever I would like. I need to start slow, since my body isn't used to the extra work, but I can workout as much as my body will allow. The NP I saw yesterday said she'd like to see me able to do at least an hour a day! I know I can walk 40 minutes, but I also need to add more to my routine. I am working up to more strenuous workouts.
