I wait 2 hours after eating lunch, that's when it feels best for me.

I usually work out in the morning on an empty stomach. If I work out after I eat, I can't do a good workout.

I can't work out on a full stomach. I normally wait at least two hours after eating, and try to drink a couple of glasses of water about 30 minutes before. I feel really uncomfortable and get cramps if I'm too full.

I have to wait closer to 2 hours before running to avoid side stitches. And often I'll feel more sluggish if I workout closer to eating. I actually try to workout before eating because it feels better for me.

I usually wait about an hour after eating to workout. The only exception is if I'm doing ST because I'm not jumping or doing anything that is high-impact. Anything with jumping is a sure-fire wait until I don't feel the fullness anymore.

There's no reason to wait unless exercising after eating makes you feel sick. How long you have to wait is individual. Exercising on a full stomach doesn't bother me. I can eat right before exercising and not wait any period of time, unless I eat something very heavy or greasy. There's also no need to wait 30 minutes before swimming.

I can't work out within at least an hour of eating, but that's just because it makes me feel lousy. As others have said, it's a personal choice thing; there's no rule. If it doesn't make you feel sick to work out 1o or 20 minutes after lunch, go for it!

It really depends on the person. You have to experiment and find out how soon after eating you can workout without getting sick or feeling heavy or lacking energy. If you eat something heavy, your energy is going to go to your stomach to digest your food. I once ate an odwalla bar 10 minutes before going on a run and it was the worst run ever, nauseus and low energy. I usually have to wait until I have a pretty empty stomach to run, but not actively growling. It's touchy. On the other hand, if it's a gym class without any jumping like Pilates, I don't really need to pay attention to what or how soon I've eaten (I just can't workout hungry).

When a person should workout after eating will vary from person to person. I can eat a light meal (like a sandwich) right before I strength training or take an aerobics class. However, I can't eat prior to a run. I'll get cramps. I eat after my run.

You're going to have to experiment with times because nothing is written in stone. that 30 minute rule comes from swimming. Even today, I'm not sure anyone still waits 30 minutes before going for a swim.

So after you eat lunch, how long should you wait to workout? Should you wait 10, 20 minutes? Can you work out right after eating? I know they say to wait 30 minutes to swim after eating but is it the same?
