Yes, you can do all kinds of exercise during that time. For me, the more I exercise, the greater the flow--THE SHORTER THE TIME I HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT!
Especially if I run days 1 and 2, it often cuts 1 or 2 days off the length, which is soooooo worth it for me!

Sometimes I wish we had a girls only forum for posts like these :)~

Yeah, exercise helps me with my PMS and managing the cranky during the first few days. I have to avoid too much work in the tummy area for the first few days usually since it makes me feel a bit worse. Walking, yoga, stretching, dance seems to help things a great deal~

It's true. Many women do experience increased menstrual flow when they exercise. And that's not always a bad thing. I too can confirm that regular exercise does help decrease PMS symptoms. Why not try it ? You may find that exercise does help.

Now, if you go to the gym, just make sure you bring extra protection if you need it.

As I tell women, the universe doesn't stop when we have our periods. Work does need to get done. So, don't let your cycle stop you from exercising. also, you may find that as you lose weight, your cramps and various other menstrual symptoms do decrease. that happened with me. I used to get terrible cramps. Not after losing weight. the cramps just about stopped.

Exercising during my period actually eases the pain a bit for me. As far as I know, it is perfectly safe to exercise, including ab exercises, during your period. Wear extra protection if you need it, of course, or exercise lighter if you feel you need to.

Yes, it's totally fine to do ab work or any other exercises while on your period. I'd just use a heavier absorbency tampon if you think exercising makes your flow heavier. It's also probably worth mentioning it to your doctor next time you have a check up.

You can do any form of exercise during that time that you are comfortable with. I know for me it helps to ease cramps. I might take a day off and do something easier another day, but using good products shouldn't leave you with a problem exercising.

Is it ok to do tummy crunches/core strengthening/bicycle crunches while having periods? I can't walk on the treadmill these times because it seems like the flow becomes excess.
