I started the couch to 5k program recently and after I get back from working out my heals hurt. The pain isn't right away, typically I'll take my shoes off, fix breakfast and when I get up from eating my heals will hurt so much I can't really put much weight on them. It is only the heal towards the back and I'll end up walking on the balls of my feet until the pain goes away which will be a few hours.
I am not sure it's the running but more of the walking part that is causing this. When I run my foot will land mid foot with the heel never touching the ground but In standing and walking I put a lot of pressure on my heals and the faster I walk the harder my foot strikes the ground.
The terrain I run on is varied. Concrete, asphalt, rocky path, and path with snake holes.
Also some days when I get up the arch of my foot is very stiff and I'll have to walk around a bit to loosen it up.
Now I know a forum post is no substitute for a doctor consultation, and being the hypochondriac that I am if I had health insurance an the means I would be going to a doctor instead, but being the situation as it is, has anyone experienced what I am describing and if so how did you fix it?
I am hoping this is something better running shoes should fix so I will be getting new ones next week or so.
I run... I am slower than a herd of turtles stampeding though peanut butter... But I run.
