Question for you ladies in boxing classes: How hard do you want the guys to go against you?
I really hate sparring with the girls in my gym because I feel awkward about it. If I was there more than just once a week for stand-up, it'd be easier cuz we could get to know each other but that's about all I get in. I'm on of the smaller guys (5'8". 155 lbs) so I end up with them more often when there's an odd number.
Normally I go easy, throwing punches with very little heat and just barely touching them. (I also don't throw leg kicks cuz mine are strong even when I pull back) 2 weeks ago I was going up against one of the regulars and she kept gesturing to go hard. I did slightly, enough that I felt bad when my shots landed as they were now solid and knocking her back, and then she got mad.
Threw a big 'ol head kick at me and told me to stop being such a pansy and just hit her. I have a serious problem with even throwing 25% at a female as that's still a lot of force. Any help?
I'm 5'8" stinks being shorter
Summer 2011- 215 lbs. Peak weight
Christmas 2011- 200 lbs
Start of summer 2012- 170 lbs
September 2012- Made my goal of competing at feather weight for Bjj (under 149 with a little water cut)
Now I'm just trying to maintain around 152ish to leave me in easy cutting range. Also trying to relax and eat more like a normal person now, balancing enjoying life and staying healthy.
