While muscle does burn fat, it is even better than just that. Without ST, up to 25% of weight loss can come from muscle rather than fat, while including ST will help ensure more of your weight loss comes from fat alone. Even if you don't gain muscle, just doing ST will result in more fat loss.

Thank you so much! I left it at zero to begin with, I think I'll just leave it. I suppose this whole building muscle thing is important lol I know I know, muscle burns fat *sigh* I'll get there..eventually..

Your body weight is implied in these exercises. I'd leave it blank, as for some of these exercises it is possible to then add additional weight (eg. squats with dumbbells).

Also, ST doesn't burn a whole lot of calories directly in the same way that cardio does. The main benefit comes from making your muscle tissue more metabolically active, burning more calories throughout the day, not just from when you are working out. The weight used doesn't really affect this, it is just a matter of how much you are challenging your muscles.

I noticed when I added the exercises that SparkPeople recomended (and I did thank you very much!) it automatically put my weight @zero. I realize that I didn't ADD any extra weight but my body is a weight in and of itself. SO question is, would I add my body weight as "weight" in my squats? I mean in terms of the calories burned my thirty squats are going to burn more calories now than they will when I lose 30lbs.

Thanks for your input!!

always

Mikaela
