Too expensive. They are run by a for-profit company, and the one near me was more than double the cost of an average timed race in my area.

I would do it if my kids wanted to do it, but these in my opinion are WAY too expensive. i can run an "untimed" 5k run for free. If I pay a fee, i want a sanctioned, timed race.

Did my first one in Nashville over the Easter weekend and LOVED it!!! The one they had in Oct didn't fit into my schedule, so I couldn't do it, but I am hoping to do it again next spring. If you are looking for a "fun" 5K and not one that is timed, I highly recommend this one!

I did the Color Me Rad 5k. It was amazing!! I had so much fun- I am pretty sure the Color Run and Color Me Rad are pretty similar. It was very motivational. It was my first 5k.

I have to agree that I don't want water on me or heaven forbid paint even washable. But I wish we had long walks in an organized fashion. Our dog walks are fabulous and happen almost every day. It is rare that it doesn't happen. They can be from 4 to 12 km. long.

I'm sure it is fun, but since I wear glasses, I don't like getting my glasses any dirtier than they need to be. It's bad enough that I get sweat and junk on them throughout the day without adding other things to it. I don't wear contacts and I don't want to ruin my backup pair either. I am rather particular. I don't like wearing band aids or latex gloves (which I've had to wear for things I do in the lab - not often though). Again, it's not something that would interest me but I am glad that other people enjoy it. I'm just weird like that. emoticon

For those worried about the "paint" (it's really more like colored powder) washing out--it rinses out easily. I did treat my race shirt with vinegar because I wanted to keep the multi colored effect, but my capris washed up good as new, as did my hair. Also, most of the color runs aren't timed--it's about fun. The one I did actually had a competitive tier, a 5k fun run, and a 1 mile tier for those who were couldn't manage the 5k, but I think that's an exception to the rule.

I've done a color run that was put on by the local parks and rec department, not the actual Color Run company. It was great fun.

I've also done a mud run, the Run for your Lives 5K where you dodge zombies. It was a blast, but more strenuous than the color run, obviously. I think the color run is absolutely perfect for beginners. Crowds, no clock, and lots of fun. Have fun!

They are a lot of fun! Like others said, it is more focused on having fun than on competition. The colors washed out of my clothing with no problem.

My understanding is that the dyes all wash out - if you want your shirt to be stained you need to treat it with vineger before laundering.

I still think this sounds like fun!

Like Itsabsurd, getting dyes and colors stuck in my hair isn't worth it. I had a friend that did one and she enjoyed it. I'm just not into races. I prefer competing with myself. That's just me though. I don't mind getting dirty or sweaty but I just don't like the idea of getting paints (and similar things stuck to me). Dirt and sweat are easier to remove. It seems like it would also be easier to remove dirt and sweat stains from your clothes than the paints.

I personally don't care for adventure or color runs. I don't even go on water rides at amusement parks because I cant stand getting wet or dirty while wearing regular clothes.

I do know some people who regularly participate in these types of runs. They love them! I just encourage them to enjoy.

I've heard of them but don't know exactly what they are. Are you just running and people throw dye on you? There has to be something else to it I would think.

I did a color run in late April. It was a hoot and a half! Soooooooo much fun, and much more focused on moving and having fun, rather than competition. Lots of families participating and even a couple dogs (though I wouldn't do that to my dog, but whatever.) And you definitely are more colorful at the finish line! If you go and want to preserve the tie dye effect on your t-shirt, soak it in white vinegar then throw it in the dryer. Then wash as usual.

I've had a few friends do color runs - they had a lot of fun and the pictures were AWESOME. I would love to do a 5k one in the next year or so.

I've done a mud run and it was a BLAST. Physically challenging and I was bleeding/bruised/exhausted after the fact, but the second I crossed the finish line my friends and I were already planning the next one. You feel like you can do anything after finishing one!

Do something everyday that your future self will thank you for.

I have just found out about color runs (various lengths - I'm looking at a 5k) where you are sprayed with color during the event and end up looking like you are tie dyed.

Has anyone run one of these before? It sounds like fun!
