I would have to agree that Leslie Sansone. I do them in my bedroom in between the bed and my dresser.

I have a small bedroom & can only use part of it. I just started JNL Fusion dvds. They consist of 13 dvds in the series & focus on different parts of the body every day.
You do 30 sec. strength followed by 30 sec. cardio. I weighed 200 when I started a couple weeks ago & am dropping inches & really feeling my body changing & people are commenting on it , too. I told them I haven't dropped that much weight it's the workouts dropping inches.
They are challenging & I am dripping sweat by the end, but doable & best of all different levels to change with your fitness level. I have purchased probably 30-40 dvds & dvd sets. This is by far my favorite .

Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire and Leslie's DVD's all work great for small spaces. Of course there are also a bunch here on spark people that take up very little space. Good luck on finding the one that works for you.

I really like Leslie Sansome, and I just bought a Richard Simmons DVD. His project HOPE. It seems to work well in the small area I have. I have also found some good Spark People videos.

Working the program because the program works.

Totally agree on anything Leslie Sansone (and she has a range, easier to intervals). Also, The Firm workouts (particularly the newer circuit ones like "hardcore fusion"). Someone said Tae Bo, those too! My newest fave DVD is Jazzercise- burlesque. Don't laugh... It is fun, fast, modern, and burns it (I am fit, and it gets me to level 3-4, modify if needed in the few higher impact areas). emoticon

My apartment has a living room so small once you factor in the couch, coffee table and TV stand I wouldn't be able to live there if I was claustrophobic. I have to turn my TV on an angle and use the space in the archway leading from the living room to the dining room for my workout - that probably gives me about 3 square feet, all told. But I can do Shaun T's Rockin Body workouts with no problem as long as I keep my steps a little smaller. I don't know if I'd recommend it for someone living on an upper floor, because there is some jumping, but space-wise, it's perfect. And it makes me sweat like crazy, and it's so much more fun than just plodding along on a treadmill!

Also, I do Shaun T's new Focus T25 workout in a small space. And its a fabulous workout - more intense than JCORE.

The JCORE program is marketed as only needing a 4'x4' space! Although there is an exercise where you have to lie down on the floor with your arms above your head then stand up without using your hands -- takes more than 4' for most people, I'm guessing.

If you think you can, you will. If you think you can't, you're right.

There's a channel on YouTube that I haven't used, but was recommend a few years back, called "Convict Conditioning" - based on mostly equipment free exercises in a small space. Orange jumpsuit not included.

10 Minute Solution - Target Toning for Beginners (Cindy Whitmarsh) is great, and is one I use in small hotel rooms. It has four routines that I used a lot starting out - I think there's a fifth that I'm spacing:
Arms (really upper body), requires small free weights and space for push-ups
Legs - space to step back and forth
Glutes - space to step back and forth
Abs - space to hold a plank

Otherwise, I'll pick and choose from other routines:
The Les Mills Combat Core Attack video is about 20 minutes, I've done it in a Japanese hotel room (small). Free weight is optional for one exercise, I use a full water bottle if I'm traveling.

I've done P90X Kenpo X and Yoga X on cruises, about 60 and 94 minutes respectively. No equipment. Yoga X is tough if you don't have vertical space, and you have to carefully position yourself for the Kenpo X kicks. But I've done them both in small areas.

Insanity's Max Recovery video doesn't have any lateral moves. Plies, various planking moves, push-ups, and stretches - if you have enough space to fit in, you're fine.

If I don't have a DVD player handy, and am stuck somewhere small (usually a small hotel room, stateroom on a ship, or visiting family), I'll sometimes just do sets of body weight exercises - bowler/skater squats, air squats, push-ups, tricep push-ups, burpees - with jumping jacks, jogging, and heismans as warm-up. Pick four exercises, do ten reps of each, then nine, then eight, etc. If you have anything left in you when you hit 1 rep, start back at 10.

Amy Dixon's Breathless Body is an excellent workout with varying levels on intensity and can be done in a small space.

I like Jessica Smith's youtube channel as well. She has a great 20min cardio workout that she actually does in a small space in her apartment.

Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred is also good for a small space.

It's also possible to do Turbo Jam in my extremely small bedroom but I have to be quite careful with my positioning. It's worth working through it once slowly so that you can figure out if you've got enough space to do all the kicks etc. I can do them but it involves moving about quite a bit!

I love the Biggest Loser Power Walk. 1 and 3 are with Bob and are body only. 2 and 4 are with contestants and they use free weights...think its a ball but I just use my hand weights and call it good. I can do that in the space of a yoga mat. The only space I have to call my own is the 2x4 strip between our bed and the wall. I put my laptop on the bed and off I walk. Any of Jillian Michaels will work, though if you're in an upstairs apartment, the guys down stairs might get pissed for the 1 minute you're doing jumping jacks or jumping rope.

S - Start slowly, set yourself up for success
T - Try new things, don't say you can't do something or don't like something before you have tried it.
A - Add movement everywhere, walking farther, calf raises while waiting in line, etc.
R - Realize that you are human & will make mistakes
T- Take time to recognize your successes - celebrate!

God, grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can and the wisdom to know it's me.

It's already been mentioned but I do The Firms Hi Def Sculpt DVD every Sunday in my living room, and that space is only about 5' X 6' when you push the furniture out of the way. I sometimes have to turn a different way, but I can do all the steps, including the sideways lunges in that space.

Leslie Sansone is wonderful. But for the past 2 years I've been doing TTAPP by Theresa Tapp. There are sample videos on Youtube. She also demonstrates from her living room. There is no equipment required, and no floor work. The basic workout is only 15 minutes. She recommends that this is all is needed. These exercises are deceptively hard because GOOD FORM is the key to inch loss, and overexercising will gain you inches. So this workout really focuses on inch loss rather than weight loss, although that will occur as well. It is also holistic like yoga, without the contortions, in that you get lymphatic pumping and muscle toning at the same time. But the only drawback is that for some, results may not be realized for a long time. So you really have to stick with it. For me, until I started eliminating most carbs, did I start to see good results. But we are all in it for the long haul, right?

I have been struggling with this a lot lately because I live in a bus/camper at the moment. Try Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown. There's 2 different levels of workouts. As long as you have room to lay down and stand up with your arms over your head, you are good! No equipment needed too.

Completing C25K = new sneakers

I also live in a smallish second-floor apartment and just want to chime in my agreement about Leslie Sansone and Jillian Michaels. Besides Leslie's walking DVDs, she also has some very basic yoga and Pilates workouts -- but as far as my core and I are concerned, any Pilates is fairly "challenging" as home workouts go! emoticon

Good luck! emoticon

I love Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds. I was getting bummed because the kids damaged my DVD, and woo-hoo, my mom found a version on You Tube for free.

The Leslie Sansome walking videos (especially the rainbow one) are great! You can tailor them to your time/skill level. Initially, I thought a walking video sounded a bit strange, but she adds weights and exercises, too. I am used to walking 4-5 miles a day, but these videos wear me out.

Jillian michaels, the ripped in 30 days and 6 pack dvds are really good for small space. I have limited space and am able to do these workouts with ease. U can find examples on youtube before purchasing.

I have an extremely small living room. I have had problems with some DVD workouts needing more space than what I have. One DVD series that I really like is the Slim in 6 series by Beach Body. It also contains a lot of squats, lunges, etc., with a lot of arm movements that get your heart rate up without a lot of jumping around so your neighbors shouldn't be bothered.

I do The FIRM's cardio-sculpting workouts in my dining area. They need a little more room than Leslie Sansone's walk workouts, but not much. I agree that Leslie's workouts might be the most space-efficient.

I just started Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 and I don't need much space at all. I'm only on week one and there are three more workouts, but I can't imagine that any of them need much space. I did the workout in about a 8x8 (a little less actually) area with no problem at all.

A little tougher to implement space-wise than Zumba, but you can improvise a 4 way change in direction (if you merely have forward and back) with a cardio belly dance workout such as SharQui; or with many of the belly dance videos; particularly if they are drill-oriented.

A clanky coin-scarf at your hips, and--like having a rockin' stereo--sound could almost make you feel you are in grand space.

Add a candle for atmosphere, and you feel you are entertaining the Sultan in a grand palace ...

Leandro Carvahlo's Brazilian Butt Workout, I can only do about 15 to twenty minutes at a time but it is great for small spaces and you don't need extra equipment.

I've been doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred Level 1 in a small space, about 6X5 feet. I don't know if the other levels need more room, I haven't gotten that good yet emoticon
