Kudo's for donating!!! Its absolutely a-m-a-z-I-n-g what can be done with a pint of blood now!!
When I have donated in the past, the recommendation was to take it easy at least the next 24 hours. Your body will need to rehydrate well, and you've just given away a lot of oxygen carrying red cells. It will take your body a few days to release more rbc's ---rather like going to altitude, the body releases immature but functional red cells to compensate; but it takes a day or two.
The lifting restriction is most likely so that your vein can properly heal.
My suggestion would be to take a good rest day...maybe a short walk just to stretch the legs, and skip the strength training.
Perhaps someone else has more current info than I do, and/or direct experience with the effects of exercise after donation. You could certainly ask if the Blood Center has someone on their staff with the expertise!!
Thanks again for donating!!
