Absolutely. In fact, it's a common enough problem that there's an experts' answer for it!

Any time you start a new exercise program, your muscles tend to retain water which can cause a temporary increase on the scale. That should go away in a few weeks, so hang in there!

A few years ago when I decided to start exercising, I had been maintaining my weight for a while. And when I started with Jillian's Banish Fat boost metabolism I too ended up gaining weight for the first 2 months!!!! I did take a closer look at my foods, and started to measure instead of guess at amounts. And that is when the scale started to drop.

Good morning sparkers! I've started kicking my workouts in high gear this week doing jillian michaels dvds. I am obsessed with her. The scale says i have gained some weight even though my diet has basically not changed. Could that just be from water retention from workouts? Thanks!
