As others said, depends on the conditions.

If you're fighting a current you can certainly burn quite a few calories that way. I kind of equate diving to underwater hiking myself. I'm not necessarily always just floating there staring at fish - I am swimming around a bit to get to other points of interest, but I'm not necessarily kicking around like a madwoman, either.

I thought sparkpeople had an option for scuba diving as an exercise? Maybe that was a long time ago.

would think it would really depend on whether you are really swimming much or not. whether you are going off a boat, or lugging your stuff to the beach and going out through the waves. probably even how cold the water is and how much gear you have to put on. (I don't know about anybody else, but at my weight/shape, putting on a full wet suit is quite the chore)

All the so called "secrets of success"will not work ... unless you do.

If you're not actively swimming, then don't track it as fitness minutes. Some stuff just doesn't count.

You don't have to eat the whole thing.

I would like to know how many calories you use when you Scuba Dive?
It's pretty benign...you just float along...
Anyone know?
Thanks,
Kirsten
