ok, so here's my situation. my general workout routine is to do 60-75 minutes of power yoga 4x a week, 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training 2x a week, and rest one day a week. the last rest day i took was last wednesday.
i have to go out of town for a wedding this weekend, and i'm not positive i'll be able to work out both days (i'm going to do my darndest to work out one of saturday or sunday). so my plan had been to go to yoga monday, tuesday, wednesday, and friday, and to do cardio/strength on thursday and again on either saturday or sunday.
my other impetus for really wanting to get all of my workouts in this week is that both my yoga studio and gym are closed for maintenance next week. it's a horrible coincidence that means that i'll be basically confined to jogging and videos next week -- and i never feel like i get as good of a workout doing those things, especially as i have to be careful about running because of previous injuries. so i want to put a solid week in this week.
here's my problem though: i feel wiped out. during class yesterday i was barely able to keep up. it's normally a tough class but i just felt so exhausted. and this morning, i'm sore, achy, tired, and feel like i have a head cold. i think i may be sick! now, my body is telling me NO to the yoga class i had scheduled today, but my mind is telling me YES YES YES. an additional factor is that the yoga classes i attend are unusually intense -- they're planned to get your heart rate up and there's a significant amount of core and arm work in them. so going to yoga is not an "easy" day for me.
what should i do? should i go to yoga and not derail my workouts for the week, but also not make myself sicker? or should i take the day off and potentially have two light weeks in a row, but allow my body some time to recover?
sorry for being long-winded!
