Asics Gel Nimbus 14...When I first started running, I had shin splints really badly. When I switched to these...no problem. Lots of cushioning.

Tesco's sell a pair for 8 over here. They are good for running but they don't last long. They do take the shock out of hitting the ground and at 8 you can buy quite a few.

I have a neutral foot/stride. My favorite shoes have been Asics and Saucony. Your best bet is to go to a good running shoe store where they can tell you what kind of foot/stride you have.

You don't want to ask me, I am the crazy barefoot ,minimalist shoe guy here. I posted another article with research on the topic last week here on Spark and got minimal response. The current research shows that the current generation of over padded running shoes contribute to the problems people are having. As a side note almost all of the major shoe companies now offer some form of minimalist shoe, go figure.

It is called WORK-ing out for a reason.

I said getting fit was simple, I did not say it was easy.

Cardio burns calories, strength work burns fat.

Eat well to lose weight, exercise to get fit

The one that fits properly. Which is usually not the trendy one that all the "cool kids" wearing. LOL! Go get properly fitted, including width, stride and pronation/supination evaluation. Good luck!

Your best bet is to be properly fitted for a shoe at a specialty running/walking store. The best shoe for one person isn't necessarily the best shoe for another.
