Think about the number on the scale and how I don't want to see that number again!

I have a party or event coming up and I don't want to be the biggest one there again!

How I hate the clothes that I have on right now (size anyway)

Look at my body in the mirror

I wallow for a bit, when I lose motivation, then I switch to commitment because commitment is more lasting than motivation. I don't HAVE to do anything in terms of eating well, exercising, hydrating, getting proper sleep, etc. - but I WANT to take care of the one and only body I have. After I have wallowed and slipped into a funk, it takes one decision to get me back on the right track - meeting a friend to work out, or drinking enough water, or going to bed early instead of eating mindlessly at night, or just getting off my @$$ and tending to a few chores. Just one positive action will usually get me straightened out, until I hit the next funk. There is no perfection, only progress. You can do this.

I will find strength in pain and I will change my ways....to live my life as it's meant to be.

I use the SP idea of only having to exercise for a few minutes....I tell myself if you'll just exercise for 5 minutes, you can stop if you're still feeling so tired you just can't make it, and you don't want to go on. I have never had a time that after the first 5 minutes I didn't start feeling more energetic....I have never stopped at the 5 minutes.

I put on my walking shoes and just go for a fun walk. No pressure, no worries about whether or not I'm working at it hard enough, no stress about style.

Just a walk in which I can breathe deeply, look at the world around me and remind myself of my priorities.

LOL here is exactly what I would tell myself. Just because you fell off the wagon does not give you any excuse to go running screaming from the wagon! We ALL fall off the wagon at some point. Nothing to be ashamed of. But keep the wagon in sight and do your best to get back on it. I have been running along side that wagon for a few months now. One foot on and one foot off. But I still have a foot on it! Don't let a small slide derail you. emoticon

I always try to remember how much time and effort I put over 3 to4 years doing exercise and dieting to loose some weight . Besides I feel so much better after exercising..

I started a month ago , but I didn't go nowhere.
Why? I am finding everything I do tiresome and very difficult. I am trying to continue and get somewhere with my fight for a better life. My health has been going down in the last 5 years. I am 73 and recently I am experiencing quite a bit of pain with this injury of a sciatic nerve. Of course that has nothing to do with my continued to eat things are not beneficial for me. I believe depression is the cause of wanting more sweets, is my weakne

I like to watch one of SP's inspirational videos; those stories are wonderful! Another thing I will do is look at something from my closet that used to fit (but doesn't currently) and think about how much I want to wear it again. There have been a few days where I just tell myself, "Keep your head down and do what you need to do. Tomorrow will be better." And it always is!

Yesterday was definitely a day where my motivation was low. I had to really talk myself into putting on my shoes and going for a run. The whole time I was talking myself into continuing. By the end of the run I was still discouraged. Today is much better and I am going to pat myself on the back for struggling through yesterday! Sometimes you just have to go through the motions and make things a habit.

Go shopping and try on clothes. A few things might happen. You might find that you don't fit into the size you want to be so keep losing weight. Or, that horrible lighting that they use in the dressing rooms will shock you back into wanting to exercise. It worked for me, that's for sure!!!! Good luck, you can do this!

Time to take care of ME!

I try to find something I need to change for the better and MAKE THAT CHANGE! Like right now I am trying to change my eating patterns to consume more (healthy) calories at breakfast, instead of keeping them available for dinner, which has always been my habit: to save them for later in case I get too hungry during the afternoon and evening. If I have calories left to use I'm too inclined to spend them on chocolate at the end of the day. So it seems better to use them on veggies and fruit earlier in the day. But for me it's a hard habit to break. But I am more motivated when I'm challenging myself in some way.

sometimes when I get bored or feel unmotivated, I tell myself okay take a day off, just don't undo everything we have done and tomorrow I will be back on track. when I feel im in a rut, what I do is put on the song, "we are young" and head outside, once the sun hits me Im all good.

Look at old pictures of yourself....good or bad....you decide how you felt when the pictures were taken. Then challenge yourself to NEVER look like that again OR to focus on looking like that again, depending how you looked in the pictures.

I need visual motivators. Yet, I know I will NEVER look like I did in high school, or college, or on my wedding day.....but I realistically might look as good as I did at my daughter's high school graduation or her wedding.

Sit back, taking a deep breath, and re-evaluate your future goals. Good luck!!!!!

I take a deep breath and remember why I WANT to be motivated--because you can't feel a lack of motivation without having been previously motivated, right? I've also phoned/texted friends and family for encouragement, or come on SparkPeople and read blogs for a boost.

when i lose motivation - i wait for myself to calm down - try not to make too many mistakes while waiting - and sooner or later - the yearning to be HEALTHY and FITTER does come back. i have to do a lot of positive self talk - and remind myself how awful i feel when i don't eat properly.
STRESS is my biggest enemy - so getting a handle on that is the biggest challenge i have.

Awesome junk drawer! Also reminds me of an old health saying that I read in one of my books....In order to have what you don't have, you gotta do what you don't do!! I just love that because I know there I things that I am STILL not doing consistently...that are contributing to my overweight status! Like, staying in my calorie range, like exercising hard enough, like drinking enough water, like weighing myself more often, like eating slowly and limiting portion sizes.....Yikes! I am a work in progress......We will not give up!

I think sometimes my motivation tanks when I feel like everything is off limits and that can't be a part of my life anymore. So, I do those things and loosen up for a day or two and then know it's time to get back on track.

I also know that I want to walk easier, fit into chairs and airplane seats better, I don't want to have to be in fear or say no because I am too big. I don't want to have to go on meds because I crossed too far over the line to be healthy without them. I want better health insurance (if there is such a thing). I want to shop at places with clearance sales and normally priced clothing, not a place that caters to fat people for 4 times the price.

When I've had a binge day, I realize that that used to be what I did everyday and what got me to this palce, and I didn't feel good afterwards and don't want to do it again.

At the moment I have a couple of things of clothes in the next smaller size, I'm not there yet, but I'll keep trying until I am!

My wife and I are in this together. We've both lost more than 16% of our body weight since Jan 1 2013. Once in a while one becomes less motivated than the other. Just seeing your partner continue is motivation if you don't want to be left behind. Failing that, I look at my old pants.

Started at 214lbs Jan 1, 2013. Now 172 in maintenance, lowest achieved weight 169 which was second goal after I realized more could go around 180lbs.

I'm a photographer, so oddly there are only a few pictures of me in recent years. Most that exist are from my bigger years. I just turn to one of them and look in the mirror to what I am now. Its reminds me I've worked too hard to give up.

I'm notorious for the 'phone a friend' move...I text my bff, my sister, my bf...I've even texted my dad and brother...and ask them to motivarte me off the couch. Just knowing there's someone on the other end who's hoping I'll get it done is a solid motivator!

I look in my closet. When I lost 35 pounds 4 years ago, I bought myself a new wardrobe. Now, I have gained back 12 pounds and nothing fits. It's frustrating. I have just ended a 4 month bout of Vertigo, so now that I can hold my balance, I am eager to start exercising again but realize I must take it really slow since I have been bed ridden all this time. But, I am confident that I will get back on track. Our 17 year anniversary is coming up so I at least want to drop a few pounds so I can wear one of my dresses.

I usually get on Sparkpeople and start re-reading old posts that I've Written to inspire others. I go to inspirational pages, read tips, do smalll workouts (like 10 minutes) and then go on with my day. After a while the 10 mins gets longer and I'm back to my normal workouts!

This is timely and it is something everyone deals with. I've battled the yo-yo my entire life....I started sparking seriously in Feb and have been mixing heavy calories days with light calories days-I track my total range by the week. Also in Feb I had started walking on the treadmill for 10 min each morning adding a minute a week....I got up to 18 minutes a morning...I have been losing consistently....then the morning exercise dwindled and now I am not exercising. The last few weeks I have had many more heavy calorie days than light....and I know I am on the slippery slope....SO I know I need to shake things up..... I've been doing a lot of reading about motivation on sparkpeople...I've ordered The Spark book to read and I also ordered some DVD comedy series to entertain myself when I walk on the treadmill...I should get this stuff by next week.... I am going to work on updating my sparkpage....resetting goals which will include using more of the tools on sparkpeople...I've written in my spark coach notes that I am going to stay at the low end of my calorie range THIS WEEK and walk on the treadmill for 10 minutes a day for THIS WEEK....I'm just going to focus on this ONE WEEK....I'm going to keep a Barney Fife motto in my head....Andy...you've got to nip this in the bud emoticon

Slow and steady wins the race.

This has been recent...like the last few days! :(. I just keep going. Some days are tough, but I find if I push through and get in the workouts it helps. Sparking helps too!

I wouldn't say I "find my motivation" necessarily. I just work out anyway and eventually the dragging feelings get less. Even if you don't want to do it, you are still working towards a goal. Takes a long time to build a bridge across a river. I take my workouts one day at a time. Sometimes changing the workout helps too, doing something different or something I've wanted to try. Good luck. emoticon

It's mostly when I am overtired. I try to get a good night's sleep. Sometimes I take a nap during the day (if I can!) even just for 15 minutes. It makes a big difference.

I talk to my hubs and kiddos. They are my biggest fans/supporters and they are always telling me how much my work is paying off. Also, I remind myself of the changes I've already noticed and where I want to be in one year as opposed to where I don't want to be.

To get my motivation back, I look back at old photos and realize why I started this journey in the first place. I look back at those pictures, and almost don't recognize myself. I was not happy, and was overweight.
