I think ultimately you should start getting yourself in for annual checkups with your doctor. And request extensive blood tests that not only check the usual stuff like cholesterol levels, but also your hormones.
Think of your body as a machine... you (hopefully) get regular oil changes for your car, test and/or change out all the fluids, etc. to keep it running right. Your body's no different. (Well, except for changing out all the fluids.. ha!)
Like it or not, our bodies DO change as we age and that includes the ratios of hormones we have zipping through our veins. Something could be off-balance, and it'll be easier to deal with it knowing it's just a hormone imbalance instead of its all just being in your head.
That said, it COULD all be in your head, too. ;) But how about you check the true physical evidence first before you check yourself into the psych ward.
Before anyone thinks I'm bashing counseling... absolutely not. I'm all for balance in my life, and that means spiritual, emotional, mental and physical. I do attend support groups that help me with the emotional and mental challenges that life is always presenting me. But I can also say I can handle things SO much better when my body's hormones are in good balance, too!
