It happens once in a while to me, but I'm pretty sure it's just allergies. Some days are worse than others. Even when I work out inside, I think the allergens find their way in.

When I started significant cycling my throat would be a little sore the next day from breathing hard. Now it's not a problem - I can move an awful lot of air :)

Airborne contaminants can cause it for me though - smoke, dust, etc. I don't suffer allergies, but it only takes a tiny amount to cause a problem for lots of people, as mentioned below. 'Tis the season.

Do you live in a place where there's crazy Spring allergens right now? All that time outside + heavier breathing (10 min-mile is fast!) will suck all that pollen in to your lungs, and afterwards your lungs will try to push it out.

In Spring I do a daily Claritin because otherwise I get phlegmy and gross just walking from my car to my house!

Do something everyday that your future self will thank you for.

It seems like every time I take my dog for a long walk (yesterday's was 3.9 miles in 75 minutes) or a long jog (3-4 miles @ 10-min/mile pace) the next day I have some sort of respiratory illness. Does anyone else get that? I feel like my esophagus is lined with phlegm and I'm coughing a lot. Yesterday morning I didn't feel crappy like this; then I took the dog out walking around the neighborhood. It doesn't happy when the walks are 20 minutes; any ideas?
