I'd agree you'd burn more, but most mapping features like ours don't take elevation into account. Your best bet would be to wear a heart rate monitor to get an accurate estimate of calories burned.

I decided to play around with this and think it is pretty neat.

I mapped my walk and was impressed how accurate it was on the distance, but it did not count for the terrain. My route has a lot of very steep hills (I have to drive up them in 2nd gear in my Jeep) so I would think I would burn more calories than if it was a flat surface.

Any thoughts?
