When I learned it could help me to stop dislocating my joints so easily! It's actually helpful to strength train if you have hypermobile joints.

Love is a strong word, like saying you love to do laundry and clean house. I do it because I see the results and the value to me. It's getting better all the time. I love cardio!

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.

when my arms started showing real definition. when I first noticed that I was hooked!
and now I just love it for how strong it makes me feel, nothing better than a damned good workout with my dumbbells. Most of the stuff I do is cardio/strength together, I don't do strength training workouts like I used to (50 squats....50 lunges...30 leg raises...etc etc). I love how both together make me feel :)

I don't want to be skinny, I want to be healthy!

I don't. I avoid it at all costs. I try to justify yoga as strength training instead of lifting weights or doing calisthenics.

It's like a meditation for me. I strength train at home, in the evening. I listen to ambient music and work slowly - I've hurt myself before & learned to pay attention and not rush. By the end of my routine I'm trembly & sweating but I feel very peaceful & after cool-down and stretching I feel fabulous.

I did a little bit strength training on my own, but, I didn't get very far. I realized that I lacked the discipline to create a routine and stick to it. In February, I signed up for 10 sessions with a personal trainer at my local YMCA.
I loved it since Day One.
Its the best thing I ever could have done. From the first session with my PT, I learned about the proper way to really train my muscles. My PT had me working muscles I didn't even know that I had. My energy level has grown and with every session, I'm able to do more than I ever thought I could. 30 minutes of strength training and 30 minutes of cardio.

I didn't really lose any weight when I started, but my shape has noticeably changed since I started. My PT explained to me that I was building up my lean muscle, which would in turn cause me to burn more fat. He also suggested that I ramp up my cardio which I did.

A week after I added 2 extra 30 min cardio sessions (Love that Elliptical) I lost 2.5lbs.
It may not sound like a lot, but it meant a lot to me. It told me I was doing the right thing and doing it the right way.

I 'm doing 10 more sessions with my PT now, mainly because I really enjoy the one on one.
I record all my exercises in my Weight Training Diary and on SparkPeople, so that even when I work out alone, I will know what and how much to do.

I don't love it during the workout but I love it when I'm done. Knowing how lazy I am, I decided to use a personal trainer. It makes it so much more enjoyable when you can talk and laugh during your workout and it is so much easier to follow through when he shows up at the door.

I live in a very small town and he has recently moved so we are now continuing our workout via face time and Skype. Without him I would still likely work out but I certainly wouldn't push myself as hard and I would not always be using the proper form.

It is definitely nice when your muscles start to show and you notice them during every day tasks.

Wouldn't say I LOVE to do it. I do love the results though. I started a squat challenge couple months ago. Then added in full push-ups. Its kinda grown from there. It's fun when you notice how much stronger you are. I would feel like I was gonna die after 5 push ups now I can do 15 no problem. I would die at 20 squats now I can do 2 sets of 50 with no issue. I was only able to do 10 lunges before now I do 25 each leg with 10 lbs of weight. I still don't like to do it, but, I am seeing such a great change in my body. Im getting some great definition. You don't get that with just cardio and watching what you eat.

I started to love it when I first learned what to do with weights. I hired a personal trainer to set up my program and adjust it again a month or two later. It may have taken a week or two until I got the hang of the free weights and the machines, so I can't say 'the moment I picked up a weight' but I loved how powerful it made me feel, and how I saw lifting shape my muscles. Every time the trainer saw me and suggested adding another rep or trying a different move I fell a little more in love with lifting.

I recommend hiring a trainer to set up a program for you if you haven't already. That may help.

I'm living my life and enjoying every moment!

I have loved weight training since I did p90x for a little bit! I have three pieces of advice for starting to enjoy weight/strength training:

(1) find a specific program/routine instead of just doing random weight exercises

(2) keep track of your weights/reps so you can measure your progress! (along with this, set goals for yourself each time you strength train)

(3) do body fat measurements or tape measure measurements of your body because weights won't make the scale move as much as cardio, but it changes the way your body works and looks

After almost 2 years of strength training, I still don't LOVE it. Finally hired a personal trainer because I just can't work up the motivation to do it on my own. Having the trainer makes it tolerable, even somewhat enjoyable. I like the way my body is toning up and I have more energy, but the motivation for that type of training just isn't there.

10 days after signing up at a local gym. I woke up thinking at first I hurt myself when what I did by exercising is re-porpotion myself from feeling bottom heavy around the waist to feeling top heavy. In other words exercising help correct my poor posture into standing the correct way which is a good feeling

I began to love strength training when I realized I was stronger than some of the guys I knew. :-)

In all seriousness, it sounds like you just haven't found a good fit. I have an easier time with circuit training than just going to the gym and lifting. I also seem to do better with group classes or working with a partner. Right now I'm trying to add a core circuit training class into my routine, since I seem to be highly unmotivated to actually go to the Y and do the ab routine a trainer there prescribed for me. :-P Swimming, biking, running, no problem, but the idea of going in to do just abs? Ick.

Another thing that helps motivate me for upper body work is when I notice that I'm able to do more in yoga or swimming because of the work I've done in the free weight area.

Take life one day at a time - enjoy today before you worry about tomorrow.

About 10 years ago when I used to join a bootcamp class.

I've decided just this week, that I would like to amp up my strength training because I've let that fall by the wayside over the past few years. I know that my body seems to love it and it feels so good when you "feel" your muscles growing. It feels very rewarding and I never stopped loving it, just haven't made enough time for it...!

I fell in love with strength training back in my 20's. I feel stronger, taller and more healthy when I do my workouts. I like the way that muscle looks and moves and that helps keep me motivated. Now 4 kids and 20 years later, strength training is helping me to find a healthier body.

It's time...

When I started to see definition in my arms and when I can a series of moves begins to feel easier with the weights. That feeling when you know you need to start using heavier weights is just brilliant! You earned that through your hard work and that is amazing!

Honestly? I never did and still don't. It was a part of being an athlete I'd have rather done without, but my trainers wouldn't let me. I understand the need for strength training, but it just doesn't feel like flying the way running does.

It's still a necessary evil for me rehabbing an injury, and my pt makes it as fun as he can. I do see the results, and I do feel better if I keep up a constant regimen, but I wouldn't do it if I didn't have to as a means to an end.

I know I need to strength train in order to get back to running a full 5k, or improving my jumping power, but if I didn't want those things, I'd just go pure cardio.

I like strength training better if it's part of an HIIT circuit since I can focus on being fast there too, so I guess there's my answer: When my personal trainer started me on HIIT.

I have always loved strength training, got lazy and let it go for a while but I feel I'm back and doing what makes me feel good. It has many benefits and sure helps the self-esteem when you see body parts looking better.

I will continue to strive for the best everyday I breathe.

When I saw it worked!
I was stuck in one of these plateau because I was doing the same kind of exercise and not really building muscle. After 1 week, my belly started to shrunk, 1 month on I could see some muscle definition (very exciting for me, I never had any!) and now, 1 month 1/2 on I'm losing weight again woohoo!

About three months ago, when I started to see the results of inches lost and muscle definition in my arms and legs. It has been over one year since I started strength training. I have never had noticable muscle tone in my arms. First time for everything, I guess. I make sure it is a regular part of my weekly workout even when I am still sore from two days before.

I don't quite love it but I have been doing a 1 hour video for about 2 months now, 3 times a week, and I've been able to add significant weight to my lifting so I'm at least proud that I'm able to do more and I actually see muscles in my arms now.

Lay aside life-harming heaviness and entertain a cheerful disposition.

I have always loved strength training!! I'm even more in love with it now that my trainer has me doing TRX exercises along with all of our other exercises. The other day we did stuff with a sledge hammer and monster tires...SO fun and a great way to get out aggression!! I am able to channel my anger when lifting weights and as a result of lifting I'm stronger than most men I know. LOVE that!

I loved it from day one . I was lifting light weights, but it made me feel like a bad@$$. And it gave me such nice definition, especially in my back, where I don't have much padding over the muscle, so it shows sooner.

When I started training with a personal trainer. She showed me that it is possible to workout without hurting myself and causing a setback. I used to skip the gym because I didn't feel good- sore shoulder, stiff neck, back ache, didn't sleep well, etc. But having an appointment got me to the gym. My trainer would modify exercises so I could still work out despite feeling lousy. I leave the gym feeling better than when I arrived. That is very empowering and helps me go to the gym on days I train by myself. This has been the best investment I have ever made in myself. Not only do I look and feel better as a result of weight training, I'm also healthier and am able to do much more than many people my age. It has been worth every penny!

I only love it if I can follow along with Coach Nicole or Jessica Smith or some type of strength training video. If I try to strength train by following a list of exercises without a video, I just don't have the same motivation. A video keeps me going, encouraging me to do those two more reps, the extra set of crunches that I would just skip if I wasn't following a video. Accountability, I guess.

I started strength training as part of pt after surgery. Originally i was going to stop when school left out, but i like how i feel and how it is toning my body. Just decided to continue going over the summer, even though it will be more difficult because i will have to take my kids with me.

When I worked with a personal trainer at the Y. She helped me figure out the right kinds of exercises, how to set the equipment up for my size and shape, what things to avoid (not all exercises or equipment are appropriate for everyone), and how to use the online strength training workout planner/tracker that keeps me from getting into a rut.

It also helps that my clothes fit more loosely, even though my weight hasn't decreased a lot emoticon

Since I was a kid. I love the body God created for us, and when I strength train I can see how it's all working together. I also love the way I feel when I'm strong, so much more fluid, graceful, and grounded.

Look around. God gave you this precise moment. Use it.

I've been active my entire life, from the age of 4... competitive swimming, intense ballet training, etc. Always was a chubster.... Just January 1st I started incorporating heavy weights and I'm now in the healthy part of the BMI chart (prior to this i lived in the lower end of obese since I was 10 years old).

about a decade ago, I started to do some strength training with dumbells, and noticed that my physique changed really quickly (particularly my arms)... I wish I had stuck with it. I re-fell in love with it when I started to do my turbo jam/chalean extreme rotation. I feel great and my posture is so much better.

Remember... nothing tastes as good as healthy feels.

From the first day; I loved how strong it made me feel, even though at the time I was only lifting "baby" weights.

I am looking forward to increasing the weights again.
