Walking is weight-bearing exercise. If you were carrying your daughter in a backpack carrier, then, yes, you would be burning extra calories. But with a stroller, the weight goes down through the wheels, rather than your legs. With a good stroller on level ground, the extra calorie burn is minimal.

I wouldn't worry about slowing down while using a stroller - it is total distance covered that matters in terms of calories burned, not speed.

S,

I find that pushing my kids slows me down just a little, and I also can't pump my arms as well when I walk. So if I had to guess, I'd say you burn about the same amount (or pretty close), and would just track it as a regular walk.

Hope that helps,

Everyday I walk about 1-2 miles. I've been calculating how many calories I'm burning since yesterday when I found this website. So far I think I'm doing pretty good. I don't have a scale yet so who really knows. I have a 1 year old daughter that I push in her stroller on all my walks. I'm sure by doing this I'm burning a few extra calories right? Does anyone know how to calculate them so I can get a better estimate for myself??
