Go YOU for getting up and getting started! When I first started exercising, I chose simply walking-- I was a real couch potato. Right now, I'm almost done with the 30DS. I enjoy the workouts -- not so much while I'm doing them, but when I'm done I feel so accomplished and strong for having done it.
One thing I'd recommend though-- I know it says 30 Day Shred, and the implication is to do it 30 days in a row. But the workouts all include strength training, and you really need to take a day off in between strength training sessions, to allow your muscles an opportunity to rest and repair. It's taking me 60 days to do the 30DS; I alternate the video with days where I just do cardio and no strength training.
Also, Jillian says a few things in the video that aren't exactly true. Like, "You should be seeing 6-pack abs right about now" or something to that effect. In reality, you'd need to have less than 14-15% percent body fat, to be seeing any kind of 6-pack even beginning. Which is why they say, abs are made in the kitchen. So just take some of those claims she makes, with a grain of salt and don't be disappointed if you don't look like Anita or Natalie after finishing the "30 days".
Just doing the best you can to follow along (with good form), will definitely make a difference.
