Has anyone on this thread actually tried to make the argument that exercise is useless?

Absolutely, I'm stronger and leaner than I have ever been, I feel so much healthier than if I had just relied on diet alone. The food is the key to weight loss but exercising, especially strength training, makes me feel so much better

Remember... nothing tastes as good as thin feels! :)

I indeed think exercising pays off!

I used to really dislike exercising but have learned to love it. It makes me feel good, I have found it helps with stress and depression, it helps to make me feel better about my body and I can see and feel positive changes in my body (less fat, more muscle). It helps me to deal with my chronic back pain and I am hopefull maybe even help me to get rid of the pain.

Yes I feel great all day, I even feel lighter! I can feel muscles that I have never felt before! But i am not seeing any results on the scale and that is very frustrating. I walk and job in intervals for 30 mintues, I have increased my time but I am noticing any change in my weight. Any ideas???

Of course it pays off!
Current research says that diet will affect weight loss much more than exercise alone, but exercise is what keeps us fit, and healthy, and strong. I think we all need to be as active as we can mange without obsessing about it.

Absolutely !!! I start at about 2 am finish exercise about 4 am and then walk till 5:30 am. Have lost 60 lbs. since last April 3, 2012 and 24 in. So, after all everyday I am emoticon . Thank you for your post.

Are you doing 4+ hours of exercise every day? What exercise are you doing?

I still have never managed to break 1000 minutes in a month, working out 3 times a week for an hour and taking frequent lunch break walks. I work out as hard I can during those hour long workouts though.

Do something everyday that your future self will thank you for.

Yes I do. It's been awhile and because I am getting back to working out and eating healthy I started off slow especially after my c-section I still didn't feel right a year later. How ever it has been 1 year and a couple of months and I started with the Cardio excercises on a chair. I never knew you could get a work out from it. This week I did it with out the chair and it looks like my c-section is no longer a problem. Yeah.

Well Sparkpeople did 10,557 steps today, plus vacummed and wahed clothes and did some craft idea's for my grandson's wedding (July5th ) Polish wedding so I know i burned at least 1,000 calories. So everybody have a " good night".

I actually find that I don't lose weight as fast when I am exercising. BUT, I do feel better. It really helps with my depression. I didn't do it much last week because of personal issues and losing my heart rate monitor and while I didn't "miss it" per say, I missed that part of my routine and sense of "Yep. Did it". I am starting it back up again instead of waiting long enough that I can successfully convince myself not to go - lol

Without a question. I have found through my years of "yo-yo'ing" that diet alone will not do the job for me. I must exercise a minimum of 5 days/week to lose and maintain weight. Even 3 days/week isn't enough for me. Above and beyond weightloss...I am finding that exercise pays off in how I feel on a daily basis. I am not as lazy during the day and get the best nights sleep.

short and mid-term goal:
stay consistent and keep losing weight.
long-term goal:
feel better about myself and not have weight be something I think about on a daily basis.

Well it sure did for me yesterday. I lost 1.7 lbs. with 260 minutes of exercise & walking. I am determined to stay on my program. Everybody have a good day and emoticon .Drink that emoticon ,too.
