Strong lifts is a proven routine (in fact its based on other similar routines which are equally well researched) It doesn't take very long to do but it is very very efficient. Do not add exercises to it. I would really back off the cardio as well....Why change something that works?

I'm starting Stronglifts Monday, is there any other exercises that you recommend to do in conjunction, or will the SL 5x5 give me pretty good results? It's been really hard to find females that have actually done the routine. I have quite a bit of body fat to lose, I just had my third baby 7 weeks ago. I'm 5'4" and weigh 190 lbs. I plan on doing cardio 5 days a week, and obviously SL 5x5 three days a week. Any advise would be GREATLY appreciated!! :)

You can do et. :D If your deficits aren't too large, you can hold onto those lean gains, slow and steady.

Good stuff! Yeah the strong lifts and compound routines honestly got my core into better shape than any other exercises. It's what gave me solid strong abs AFTER kids. :)

I have been doing 5x5 for the past 10 months. Even at a caloric deficiency, my strength increased almost linearly for the first 2 months. Then it stalled, for about another two months. Then I went into a slight caloric surplus, and my strength started to increase again. After 6 months of eating at a slight caloric surplus some days and at maintenance at others, I have gained some fat too. Now I am back to caloric deficiency to get rid of that excess fat, but hopefully I get to keep the muscle.

I started 3 weeks ago. Don't belong to a gym yet but I'm doing it on a bowflex (don't tell Mehdi)
I can really feel the difference just in 3 weeks. I'm still trying to lose weight also so I'm sure I won't bulk up very much, but feel better since I started.

I have done it, love it, can be used while dieting and maintaining but I normally do it when I'm maintaining to really make good strength gains with a bit of lean mass gains as well. Have you done a lifting program before? I also like RPT. I tend to do more hypertrophy lifting routines these days though. When you starting?
