I am doing my second one in September. I did it last September with a group of girlfriends, and we had a blast! This year we are all going back with our husbands, because they were all jealous that they weren't doing it with us. I can't wait!
The advice I can give is also to stay with someone- sometimes you'll need a boost, both physically and mentally. Run it to have fun- and not for a 5K time. Also, I am glad that I worked on my upper body strength all last summer- it definitely helped. I found many of the obstacles used a ton of upper body strength to pull/lift myself over things.
And also, be careful and stay safe. My friend fell off one of the obstacles and broke her ankle. It's a risk we take, and muddy/slippery trails and obstacles are tricky. Take your time and make sure you always have a solid grip and solid footing before moving on.
Good luck, and have a blast!
