My preference is to have a weekly weigh-in and monthly measurements.
I THINK the idea behind that is the possibility to measure slightly different each time (did I loose a 1/8 of an inch this week or did I just pull the tape tighter?) but if you measure once a month, a 1/2 inch to an inch loss is easier to see.
However, nothing is written in stone. Do what YOU would like.
