Like the other posters have said, this is very doable. Just do one of the couch to 5k programs that are out there. I ran a 5k once and there were many different ability levels running, walking, and jogging it.

You and I are similar weight and height. You absolutely can run in 10 weeks. I've been running for about 2 months now. I've recently started the couch to 5k program and while I go slower than it suggests (i repeat weeks when I need to), I feel very proud of what I'm able to do.

Hi. Just wondering which 5K you're signed up for as I am also doing one on May 18th. I did it last year with less prep time(8 weeks) I used the couch to 5k method and found it very effective so I think 10 weeks is plenty of time. Good luck! emoticon

10 weeks is definitely doable! I just finished a couch to 5k program, and it took me 9 weeks to go from running 60 second intervals to running a full 5k. The program I used was an app on my phone called RunDouble. They have a 5 to 10k program that I just started and a half marathon training program too.

Hi,

10 weeks is plenty of time to train for a 5K, as long as you have a solid walking base. The reason having a walking base is so important is that walking 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes prepares the body to take on a more vigorous program. Below is a link to SparkPeople's Spark Your Way to a 5K that you may want to look into.

I lost about 30lbs last year and I felt really good about myself. I however became very lax after that and while I have not gained any weight, I am out of shape. I need to run a 5k for charity on May 18th. I am 215/220 and 5'5, do you think this will be difficult to do?

I am trying to lose about 30 more lbs and I want to make running a habit. Any tips??

I need genuine advice.

Thank you!!!!
