Your body gets more efficient (ie. burns fewer calories) at any activity it does regularly. If the elliptical is your dominant form of exercise, you are probably not burning as many calories now as you might have when starting out.
Of course, even if you aren't burning as many calories as a newbie might, you are still burning more calories than if you don't exercise.
Cross training with some different forms of exercise will give you a more balanced all-round fitness, and help you get more bang for your exercise buck.
You don't have to give up the elliptical, but you may want to consider at least experimenting with some different forms of exercise to find some others that you do enjoy.
