I am thinking about buying a FitBit. I may be waiting for the new armband model to be released, but in any case am very seriously considering a unit. I have spent a bit of time reading some older threads but haven't found a lot of information about my specific concerns. Primarily I want to know more about accuracy with the unit and using cardio equipment. I used a Polar HRM for a long time, and I like those devices, but I want something that also helps track steps taken, etc., like the FitBit does.
For various reasons, most of my cardio work is done on machines in the gym, so I want something that will reliably count steps taken and/or calories burned on treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, etc. I also ride my mountain bike most weekends, so any feedback regarding calorie burn while biking would also be greatly appreciated.
Lastly, I don't want the BodyMedia device. I know myself well enough to know that I will not use something that has to be strapped to my arm. I think that it is probably a superior device but I know I won't use it.
