The rule of thumb is never do anything 'new' just days prior to an important event.
You never know what kind of reaction you're going to have.
You don't want to take the chance of dehydrating yourself and feeling like crap on such a happy occasion.
It's like brides trying to self tan or get a bikini wax for the first time before the big day.
It never ends well.
