So like everybody else in America I have a very busy and demanding job. Since starting sparkpeople, I have made one of my fast break goals to walk the dog each day and that has really given me some great consistent fitness minutes each day. Here is the question....on a busy week, I will only get 20 minutes in daily. Now this is a great jam packed 20 minutes because I am running most of the time (even though I call it "walking the dog") and i stop for short intervals to walk for a moment (or for dog to"go") before hitting it hard again. I go around 2 blocks and back to my house. It is almost a mile and I usually make it in or under 20 mins.
Please give me opinions on if this is a sufficient amount of exercise daily. Sometimes I feel I should have more fitness minutes- 20 just doesn't sound like much. But when I log it, it does add to meet my weekly goal of calories burned by the end of the week.
Thoughts? Opinions? Does anyone do anything to make sure they get in more actual minutes of exercise.....maybe I shouldn't be worrying about the minutes so much...I don't know how important it is, but I have to balance it with trying to get enough sleep at night so it is especially hard those times that I get home late. What's more important- sleep or exercise?
