As long as you keep seeing improvements in heavier weights being able to be lifted, you're doing something right. :)

The reason for increase heart rate & breathing hard is that I tend to combine exercises w/out breaks. I will do 10-13 of assisted pull-ups & then 12-15 of standing calf raises (machine). I will complete 3 sets of each, working back & forth alternately.
I ST for about an hour. Typically, 12 different exercises with an overall full body focus (upper, lower, core).

And yes, I get tired. So I'm not sure if I'm taking the muscle groups as far as I should go...to gain / build strength. Overall I know I'm getting stronger because I'm using heavier weights!

Or should I be taking it to the level that "I cannot complete another rep in good form?"

That depends on one's goal, but you should at least be near that point by the end of your sets. Some days i feel better if i stop a couple reps short of total exhaustion. But the last rep you do in each set should always be a struggle to complete.

HI BERRY4,

Lifting to fatigue is the goal--heart rate and breathing hard is more for cardio based activity. All reps should be able to be completed in good form, even in a fatigued sate.

I was just trying to figure out today if I should lift to "fatigue" each day that I ST?

If I'm "working it" is that the same? (ie. heart rate up, breathing hard)
Or should I be taking it to the level that "I cannot complete another rep in good form?"
emoticon Thanks in advance!
