Thanks Jen, I think I can see a PT here without a referral so I will do that. My husband has a good PT that I might call. There must be something else going on as you say as it's been an ongoing issue for far too long.

Hi Cindy

Did you ever see a physical therapist for the problem? I'd recommend talking to your doctor about what's going on, and then they might be able to give you a referral to see a PT. Lots of times there's something else going on that causes the issue, and they can help strengthen/stretch those tight and weak areas to correct the problem for good. I wouldn't think 5 minutes on a machine should be able to undo all of your hard work and recovery, which is why I'd talk to your doctor.

Good luck!

I am really struggling with excercise. I have had an ongoing problem with a tight IT band for a long time and didn't really address it until last year. After about 6 months of chiropractic and massage, I finally had it under control and was able to sleep without pain and to excercise. I have over 100 lbs to lose and I am in bad shape generally so it is hard enough to get going. After only a month back at the gym, taking it easy, being cautious etc. I stupidly went on an elliptical machine for only 5 minutes and now I'm right back to square one; barely able to walk, can't sleep without waking up in pain every 3 hours. I am so disheartened...it feels like I am pushing a ball uphill.
Anyone else face similar challenges with excercise? If you have any good quad stretchs that you can share, I'd appreciate it. (Esp. any that are done with assistive devices such as chairs since I have a very limited range of motion right now)
