I purchased a lightly used Advantage (for $50) off of eBay at the start of the year and since then have found it nothing short of excellent. I have had no problems syncing it... The sync software HAS to be downloaded (for the drivers to work correctly), but it is a small and quick download and installation. You seriously just plug it in and it syncs up and then it brings up the activity manager. Absolutely no issue. The only work you do is in setting up the account!
Regarding price... You get 3 free months (even I, buying it second hand, am getting free months), and honestly, I think it is worth the $7/month from what I've seen. It inspired me to up my calorie intake to well above what Spark was recommending... and I actually lost more weight doing that (and now I am so close to maintenance and muscle-building!). Apparently, I am just very active throughout the day, as I'm up on my feet a lot- I get about 3-4 hours of moderate activity in pretty routinely. That info has been invaluable and so helpful for me!
I have yet to have a problem with it agitating my skin. I take it off to sync 3-4x a day and when I put it back on, I reposition it so it isn't on the same spot exactly each time. Take it off to shower.
The only problems I have... one is that you have to keep it off-body for 30 mins if you want to manually enter something in (and then only 5 min increments). I take quick showers, so it's either have it fill in what it "thinks' I'm doing (based off of what I was doing before I took it off), or I find something else to do for 20 mins and then enter in my shower. The other is that some cardio activities like the elliptical, bike, or arc trainer- it underestimates those calories burned, because it kinda think you are just walking. I did a 20 min workout today (trying to cut back because I can't eat enough to support my activity) with my HR averaging about 165... and it told me my avg METs for the workout was 4.5... But my HR was where it is when I run... 4.5 mets is akin to walking 4 mph... and I was definitely working harder than that :P
But really, I love it. It couldn't be any more simple to use or to see feedback.
