If you are moving, enjoying yourself and not getting hurt, then you are doing the right things!
I really liked swimming when I first was able to start exercising again because it was cool (no sweat), I could easily see my progress/improvement in laps/hour and I felt like I was less likely to get injured in the water than I might be doing higher-impact activities.
