Also, targeting a specific body part will not make it shrink. You cannot spot reduce fat. The only way to make your midsection smaller is by consuming less calories than you burn. Then, your body picks where the fat comes off. My belly has been the last thing to go, and, even at a size 2, I still have some jiggle. Concentrate on your diet, clean it up, see where you're at, calories wise and continue to do strength exercises. Not just for your core, but total body. Big compound movements like barbell squats and deadlifts are great. Even though the abs aren't the targeted muscle group, your core really has to engage to keep your balance. Clean and press is another good one.
