Are you pushing yourself too hard? If your heart rate gets really high, you do have a chance to faint. Are you pushing yourself where you feel faint? I've seen people at the gym push themselves so hard, that they have to stop.

Hello

I agree with the previous poster that the fat burning zone is a myth. Target heart rate is an average calculation that doesn't work for everyone. You might consider using Rate of Perceived Exertion or the Talk Test as other ways to measure the intensity of your workout. Here's a link for more info on those:

Hope that helps,

The "fat burning zone" is a myth! Don't even worry about it at all. There is a point where you technically burn a higher percentage of fat, but what matters in the end is how many total calories you burn. If you burn 200 calories while in the "fat burning zone"", you're not going to be burning as much overall as if you burn 400 calories in a higher heart rate zone.

In short: Ignore that zone nonsense, and work out where you like! It certainly won't prevent weight loss; weight loss is about calorie deficits, not the exercise you do. If you're not eating right, you can't out-exercise a bad diet!

Is it bad to workout at a higher heart rate than the fat-burning zone calls for especially when your goal is to lose weight? When I sprint or do intervals, my heart rate is going way higher than the fat-burning zone calls for. Will this prevent weight loss?
