I wear a Polar monitor which conveys my heart rate to a Polar compatible aerobic machine. I go by the machine calorie burn.

Today, I didn't wear my monitor, but warmed up for 10 minutes on the elliptical prior to my strength training. I entered my weight, age, etc into the machine and it recorded my heart rate. The machine indicated I burned 51 calories. However, Spark says I burned 70 something calories.

I read a while ago, that regarding calorie burn, some home machines are calibrated for 150 pound people. Maybe your manual will tell you what it is.

Do you enter your age, weight, and gender into your treadmill at home, and is it tracking your heart rate?

I always go by my treadmill and enter my own. I do have a HRM/pedometer/etc and it's pretty close to my treadmill.

I think SP. I know members have worn a heart monitor and the monitor was closer to SP.

I just speed walked on my treadmill for 40 minutes at 4mph at a 4% incline. My treadmill says i burned 294 calories, while spark people says i burned over 400. Which one is right?
