I actually got a FREE treadmill with a very wide platform. My neighbor moved and did not want it anymore. I would check 2nd Wind'. I stopped in there and they have some amazing equipment.

I got a Nordiac Trak. It has a wider belt( so you won't feel like you are walking down a plank!
It has an incline up to 15% and it also has a 3% decline feature.
The motor is quiet and durable.

I've had it for a year and have had no troubles at all with it.

I was just wondering this very thing since I am seriously considering getting another treadmill, my other one last about 10 years and then the belt went bad and so did the motor. I am seriously considering the nordic track c900. It looks like a very sturdy machine and cushioning to reduce impact. I use an elliptical and recumbant bike daily but looking to have a treadmill again because I love walking.

I can do it!!

emoticon Many men who have heart attacks and come home from the hospital get Treadmills until they are able to walk outside which most of them do. That is how I got mne. I bought my proform which was a wide platform and isn't real loud. I only paid $150.00. It has a book holder and a cup holder as well. He originally paid over $650 for it and had it almost 3 years. If I were you, I would look in the newspaper, online and see who is selling a treadmill. A lot of them are updating or realize that it wasn't a good choice or don't need it anymore. I got mine about 2 years ago and didn't stay with it and stopped for about a year. I started back up on July 4 after reading "The Spark" and haven't stopped one day. Even days when I was sick, I might have put in less time but I put in time. Also when someone is selling one, you can try it out which I did. Make sure you take someone with you. My son came along, plus he was able to load it in his vehicle. Anyway, its up to you, buy new or buy used. I hope you enjoy it. I also recently was told by a Personal Trainer that I needed to change the incline on my treadmill. So I change it after everytime my machine shows I have finished a 1/4 mile. I increase and then decrease. I enjoy watching tv while I walk and know that I am helping myself get healthy.

I bought a Horizon Adventure 2 Plus treadmill at the beginning of November and love it. Although I imagine any reputable brand one would be fine. I like that it has places to put drink bottles and rest my ipod.

Thanks for the response, Norditrak has a good rep and I'm going to look at one today and hopefully have a decision by Saturday.

Thanks all for your input.

I really like how sturdy my NordicTrack is! I tried both the ProForm and NordicTrack, but chose the NordicTrack for its sturdiness.

This helped a lot coming from someone who sells the machines. i appreciate you taking the time to give me feed back.

I did in fact order the rubber mat - hoping it will help in keeping the machine healthy.

thanks again.

I sell both of these machines. The T5.7 is a much better product than the Proform. The belt is both wider and longer and the motor is better. Both are manufactured by Icon Fitness but the Proform is very low end. Be sure you get a rubber mat to put under it. It keeps dust and dirt from getting attracted to the motor and softens the impact. You could also look at the T5.5. Similar model and price with slightly different controls. I hope this helps!

I was seeing mixed reviews on the proform so I was wondering how they held up - problem with people and online reviews is they do them right away and then stop. It would be so nice if people reviewed a product 3, 6 or even 12 months after they purchased I know it's a pain but it would be so helpful. Not many products go bad in the first 3 or 6 months.

Thanks for letting me know.

Yvonne

I have a proform I really like. It has taken a workout as I workout and it has held up well.

One feature I would heavily weigh is the cushion.Maybe check reviews online wherever they are sold. Keep your knees and hips healthy!

Great thoughts. I did consider my neighbors and am very fortunate that the building I live in was built in the 60's so we have concrete floors and ceilings which means no noise traveling through. I live on the top floor but have spoken with the people below me and they say they never hear anything when I do P90 - which probably should sound like an elephant dancing if it were normal floors :-).

Thanks for the thoughts.

I would look at what you're using at the gym: what do you like about it, dislike? Any features you wish it had, etc? One thing to give some serious thought to is that you live in an apartment and treadmills are Not quiet exercise machines. Is it going to be disruptive to your neighbors?

Suggest that you ask an airline pilot or flight attendant. Those folks spend their lives traveling and living in hotels. Some use the hotel equipment regularly and know exactly what they want and why.

I know a few of them.....let me try to contact them and see if I can't come up with an answer.

I'm looking at two treadmills for my apartment, they are:

NordicTrack T5.7 Treadmill
and
ProForm Crosswalk 397 Treadmill

Anyone have any thoughts on either of these; ease of use, life expetancy, ease to put together, ratings as far as quality? Any thoughts would be helpful.

I've been trying to get to the gym to use theirs but there is always some reason not to, so i figured if it was in my living room - reasons gone. at least I hope it doesn't become an expensive coat hanger.
