Eating before is largely a matter of personal preference. Some people (especially morning exercisers) feel they don't have enough energy if they don't eat at least something beforehand. Others feel nauseous if they do.
Eating after a workout is perhaps more significant, as a post-workout snack can help you refuel your body, and avoid feeling ravenous later. This is more important for workouts burning 300+ calories, and less important for less intense workouts.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
